Disaster Recovery Law Firm, Weisbrod Matteis & Copley PLLC, Opens South Florida Office

Weisbrod Matteis & Copley PLLC (WMC), a nationally acclaimed litigation
and insurance recovery boutique, today announced the opening of a new
office in Fort Lauderdale and the addition of Florida insurance
policyholder lawyer Meghan C. Moore.

Moore joins Washington-based WMC as a partner after nearly 15 years at
Ver Ploeg & Lumpkin in Miami, where she represented commercial and
individual policyholders in complex coverage and bad faith disputes.

“We help businesses and individuals maximize their insurance recoveries
after hurricanes and other major disasters, and Florida is one of the
nation’s most hurricane-ravaged states,” WMC chairman Augie Matteis
said. “Meghan’s experience, which includes recovering over $40 million
on for condominium and hotel clients who suffered hurricane damage
during the 2004-2005 hurricane seasons, makes her the natural choice to
lead WMC’s disaster recovery efforts in Florida in the wake of Hurricane
Irma.”

WMC, the first firm in history to prove to a jury that a flood insurance
company committed intentional fraud against the federal government after
Hurricane Katrina, represents more than 1,000 homeowners and business
owners whose properties were damaged by Hurricane Sandy and the historic
2016 Louisiana floods.

WMC also represents hotels with insurance claims and other disputes in
Florida and other locations. By opening it’s fourth US office in Fort
Lauderdale, the firm commits to providing unmatched service to owners
and managers invested in Florida properties.

“We are excited to welcome Meghan Moore, one of Florida’s most
experienced policyholder attorneys,” WMC partner Gary Thompson said. One
of the country’s top policyholder lawyers who recently joined WMC,
Thompson partnered with Moore for years co-representing hotel owners and
managers with insurance claims. Together they won a $28 million jury
verdict for a hurricane damaged hotel in Broward County, and have
litigated other major hotel claims throughout Florida.

Moore has also recovered insurance proceeds for owners, investors,
developers, contractors, manufacturers, and others under commercial
general liability, builder’s risk, fidelity, securities liability, and
professional liability policies. Moore joins WMC with her colleague,
Chad A. Pasternack.
