Momkus McCluskey Roberts LLC, one of the largest law firms in DuPage County, is pleased to announce that Firm Partner Joseph R. Fortunato, Jr. has written a real estate law publication for the American Bar Association.
The book is entitled, “Getting Started as a Real Estate Attorney”, and will be published this year. Major title companies in the Chicago area have already ordered advanced copies of the publication in order to be distributed as instructional content for new attorneys.
The foundation of “Getting Started as a Real Estate Attorney” contains information and tips for attorneys looking to establish and market a law practice focused on real estate transactions. Additionally, the publication delves into useful information on analyzing contracts, performing duties in transactions, and understanding the role of an attorney in a transaction and the limits of an attorney’s power under the Attorney Review Clause in the Illinois residential real estate contract. The publication also includes commonly used Illinois real estate forms such as sales contracts, listing agreements, real property disclosures, and closing documents.
DuPage County Real Estate Law Attorney Joseph R. Fortunato, Jr. is a partner at Momkus McCluskey Roberts LLC. He concentrates his practice in both residential and commercial real estate transactional work, and also handles real estate litigation. He obtained his B.A. from Northern Illinois University, and obtained his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.
Fortunato has served as outside general counsel to Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS
since 2001, and he served as president of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association from 2002-2004. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association, where he has served on numerous committees and held prominent leadership positions over the years.
Fortunato received the ISBA Board of Governors’ Award for Distinguished Service in 2008, and he received the DCBA Board of Governors’ Award in both 2003 and 2014. He also earned the Outstanding Service Award from the Realtor Association of the Western Suburbs in 2000. Additionally, he earned the Outstanding Service Award from the REALTOR Association of the Western Suburbs in 2000.
