Law firm elects management committee

A local law firm has named a group of attorneys to its management committee.

Grand Rapids-based Mika Meyers said this month it elected Benjamin Zainea, Ross Leisman and Daniel Broxup to the three-person committee in December.

Zainea was elected chairman of the committee.

The management committee is responsible for overseeing the economic performance of the firm, including developing a planning policy, overseeing the firm’s finances, reviewing committee proposals and making recommendations to the members on all major decisions.

Each member can serve two one-year terms.

Zainea is replacing Douglas Donnell, who served two terms. 

Leisman was on the management committee last year. 

Broxup is replacing Ron Redick, who served two terms.  

Benjamin Zainea

Zainea specializes in real estate law, banking law, business transactions law, tax law, franchise law, mergers and acquisitions law,  general business law, secures and finance law, sports law and entertainment law.

Zainea was a certified contract advisor between 2007 to 2010 at the NFL Players Association.

He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association and the Grand Rapids Bar Association.

He is on the board for Senior Meals Program, Inc. He has also served as board president for the University of Michigan Club of Grand Rapids.

He graduated from the University of Michigan, with high distinction honors, in 1996 and the University of Michigan Law School in 1999.

Daniel Broxup

Broxup advises clients on commercial, general civil litigation and arbitration matters and addresses issues involving Ponzi schemes, negligence, breach of contract, fraud conversion and other matters.

Broxup  is experienced in representing investors, securities brokers and securities brokerage firms in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority arbitration proceedings and in state and federal court injunction litigation.

He is a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association and co-director of Michigan State University’s Investor Advocacy Clinic. He is an advocate for legal matters affecting investors and the investment industry.

He graduated from the University of Evansville, cum laude, and from Thomas Cooley Law School, magna cum laude.

He has passed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst, or CFA, examination series.

Ross Leisman

Leisman focuses on civil litigation, municipal law, injunction, criminal law, foreclosures, automobile accidents, commercial and banking litigation, business and personal torts, abatement of nuisances and injunctions and an array of other legal matters.

He is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, American Bar Association and State Bar of Michigan.

He is also a member of the Kent County Building Authority and Ada Township Planning Commission, among other bodies.

He earned his B.A. from Calvin College, with honors, in 1984 and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude, in 1988.
