Regional law firm Ashtons Legal has scooped a top trophy for its digital presence at the LawNet awards – after its website survived an attack from Russian hackers.

It won the award for Best Digital Presence at the awards, with judges praising its digital crisis management strategy, implemented when the firm’s website was cloned from Russia in June 2017.

Ashtons’ response and actions were praised by a cyber security expert in the Law Society Gazette, and their quick thinking prevented at least three people from being scammed in the USA.

Since the attack, the firm has been contacted by and advised two other UK law firms who have been the victims of similar cyber crimes.

Ashtons chief executive Ed O’Rourke said: “It is the fifth time we have won an award for our digital marketing and each time we have been able to demonstrate further developments we are making in the fast moving digital world.”

Ashtons Legal has offices across East Anglia, including Cambridge, Norwich, Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Thetford.
