Law firm ranks No. 8 in Midwest for health law

A local law firm is considered one of the top 10 firms for health law in the Midwest.

Grand Rapids-based Warner Norcross & Judd ranks No. 8 in the fourth-annual “Regional Law Firm Recognition” ranking for the Midwest by the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section and Becker’s Hospital Review.

Warner Norcross is the lone Michigan firm in the ranking.

“We are extremely pleased to be recognized by the ABA and Becker’s for the health law work we do,” said Jeffrey Battershall, a co-chair of the firm’s Health Law Practice Group.

The top 10 firms were selected based on the number of members each firm has in the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section.

Warner Norcross, which has eight offices in Michigan, has 16 attorneys who serve in the firm’s health law practice.

The firm’s health law practice provides legal counsel to 15 hospitals in the state, as well as a number of other clients: physicians; physicians groups; pharmacies; academic health centers; nursing homes; health plans; and more.

The practice’s attorneys specialize in a variety of areas: corporate planning; regulatory and reimbursement compliance; licensing; certification; accreditation; medical staff administration; physician recruiting; joint ventures; criminal and civil white-collar defense; peer-review actions; reimbursement matters; anti-trust; and more.

“Our attorneys are on the leading edge of this complex and rapidly changing area of law, which has an impact on all of us,” Battershall said.
