“NZ’s first Nationwide Law brand “Real Law”, founded by Dennis Gates, a law practitioner in NZ for over 30 years, announces its launch today. Real Law provides small Law firms with the marketing horsepower they need to dominate their local area, attract more clients, and reach their growth goals.
Because it is a Nationwide brand, for the first time, small NZ law firms can get new clients from both National marketing (under the Real Law brand), and Local marketing (under their current brand). Real Law will ‘exclusively’ promote each firm in their local area, under their own name, via proprietary Local Marketing systems, technologies and strategies. Says founder and CEO, Dennis Gates, “When I studied Law, no one taught me anything about marketing. Which is a bit crazy because, ask any Lawyer, or any business owner for that matter, if you want to be successful, what’s more important, getting better at your profession, or getting better at marketing? Obviously the answer is marketing, and that’s why Real Law exists. To give small law firms access to powerful, proven, profitable marketing systems and strategies, that they could never afford, or would never implement on their own. They can focus on law, knowing that we will take care of their marketing, and get their phone ringing with new clients”.
In 2013, there were 3,546 Kiwi Law Firms with 3 or less partners. In 1986 NZ had 1 lawyer for every 681 people, now it’s 1 for every 383. “It appears there has been a growing need for lawyers. Laws are getting more complex and we have more of them,” said Law Society president Chris Moore, in 2016 . He also praised the local “generalist expected by their clients to help them with all their legal needs. The rising complexity of law meant they had to be talented individuals”, he said.
Gates from Real Law adds … “What we see here, is that over 3,500 small Kiwi law firms who are seen as ‘generalists’ by their clients, are dealing with every increasing legal complexities, and have less time to spend on the most important ingredient to their growth and success, marketing. Real Law fills that void.”
