Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has urged private organisations in the state to install Closed-Circuit Television cameras on their premises.

Ambode, who said this at the 11th Town hall meeting on security with the theme, ‘Improving Security Through Technology, Intelligence and Community Participation in Lagos State,’ added that all the residents of the state had a crucial role to play in securing the state.

The event was organised by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

The governor said, “Please, help to expand the reach of law enforcement agents by installing CCTV cameras in your various organisations in the event of any security breach. We still need your support in providing equipment for security agencies through your contributions to the LSSTF.

“Technology can reach where man cannot, which is why the state has invested in mobile CCTV vans, provision of drones, robotic bomb disposal equipment, tracker, bomb detectors and mobile scanners, among others.”

The governor said his administration was committed to ridding the society of crime.

“Our continued provision of equipment and logistics to security agencies operating in Lagos through the LSSTF is evident to this,” he added.

The Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said no fewer than 299 armed robbers were arrested in the last 10 months, while 38 persons, including six policemen died during encounters with criminals.

“231 vehicles were recovered during the period while 21 armed robbery attempts were foiled,” the commissioner added.
